Some Stuff 'Bout Us

So why the name A1A? ya' see, A1A is the highway which runs the length of Florida right to the end. to some its the avenue to fun in the sun. for others it's The road to nowhere, to somewhere, to anywhere, other than the one their on. After a long week on that treadmill we're runnin' on there's often need to hop on that highway that takes us away to that place, where we can kick back, if only for a little while. well, during our weekly 48 hour vacation called the weekend, there's a way to get there without standing in those long airport lines or spending hours driving in a car. Even if it's only for a few hours, A1A can take you there. because there's no better “avenue" than good music, good freinds & good times to do just that. So throw on your loudest island shirt, slip on your sandles, grab a cold one (or two!!) & join in the chorus!! oh yea, and don't forget to bring your freinds & we'll see ya' at the party!! Hey, by the way, anyone seen my shaker of salt?????

Jody ("JB")

Jody began his musical career in the late 50 s playing at recitals and on the radio as a featured student-playing guitar by the Kriger brothers’ musical studios. Jody has also played with several local bands through out the 60's and early 70's. Then became part of the band called SideStreet until the early 80's. He was called to do some part time work with the band known as memories and that project eventually turned into the New York Times Band which is currently enjoying it's 3 decade of existence serving local and regional wedding and private party venues. Also, Jody has been a "fill -in" musician with many bands over the years. His other interests include sound re-enforcement production and have a small recording studio and have produced several albums including some that have had local airplay!

Tim  ("IB")

TIM FIRST TEAMED UP WITH “DRUMMER-IN-LAW” TOMMY IN THE LOCAL HIGH-ENERGY COVER BAND “SIDEKIXX” AS LEAD SINGER/RHYTHM GUITARIST UNTIL THEY DISBANDED IN 1989. SHORTLEY THEREAFTER, TIM & TOM PARTED WAYS AS TIM PLAYED A SHORT STINT WITH  “THE TRAVELING WILKES-BARRES’S”, A SIX-MEMBER GROUP WITH A SLIGHTLY HARDER EDGE. UPON THEIR BREAKUP HE REUNITED WITH TOMMY & FORMED “WITNESS” IN 1991, WHICH GATHERED A MODESTLY POPULAR FOLLOWING PLAYING CLASSIC & ALTERNATIVE ROCK. AFTER A STRONG 4 YEAR RUN, TIM LEFT THE BAND IN 1995 TO TAKE A BREAK FROM THE LOCAL BAR GIGS. A FEW YEARS INTO HIS “BREAK”, TIM ONCE AGAIN HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO REUNITE WITH TOM AND TOGETHER THEY JOINED JODY AND THE REST OF THE NEW YORK TIMES BAND IN 1999. TIM IS NOW PRESENTLY SHARING SINGING DUTIES AS WELL AS PLAYING RHYTHM GUITAR. ALWAYS A FAN OF THE ACOUSTIC SETTING, TIM HAS PLAYED A FEW SOLO ACOUSTIC GIGS. HE ALSO ENJOYS THROWING ON THE HARMONICA AND ACOUSTIC GUITAR BETWEEN SETS EVER SINCE HIS “WITNESS” DAYS. THIS LED TO HIM TEAMING UP WITH JODY DURING A BREAK DURING A “NEW YORK TIMES” GIG WHICH WENT OVER SO WELL IT PRETTY MUCH “PAVED THE WAY”  FOR A1A (PUN INTENDED).  HE FINALLY HAD AN “AVENUE” TO SHOWCASE ALL THOSE BUFFETT TUNES HE LOVED TO PLAY.

tommy  (“Tomcat”)

Tommy hails from a prolific drumming family, so it was only a matter of time before he started layiNg down the groove in the local music scene. at 18, he started on the local scene with a band called SideKixx with Tim in 1989. In 1990, tom embarked on a short stint with the band bandana. Soon after the break of of the band he rejoined his singing brother-in-law to be in 1991 to form Witness which gained a modestly successful following.  After Tim’s departure from the band in the spring of 1995, Witness reformed as The Urge. even though they gained a strong following The Urge decided to disband in late 1996 which led Tom to join Strawberry Jam in the 1997. At the conclusion of his fine run with The Jam in late ‘98 he then, once again,  rejoined Tim as members of The New York Times Band in early ‘99. Also, recently, as well as playing with A1A,  he’s gigged with the bluesmen brothers, bobby & al white in the Funk/Blues band, "Cookin’ Soul Brew" . Along with drumming duty with the Times Band, Tom is CURRENTLY laying down the beat for "The 3rd Degree", a high energy classic rock band (which is worth checking out I must say). Needless to say, tom is very busy dude!!
